Opening Day #2

Yesterday was Opening Day for each of our full-season minor league affiliates:
Fortunately, we took three out of four games yesterday with the only loss coming in a 6-5 game in Lake Elsinore in which the Storm had to face big league starter Max Scherzer. Some highlights included six innings of one run ball from Josh Geer in AAA and Stephen Faris in AA, six innings of shutout ball from Anthony Bass in Ft. Wayne, and two or more hits from Emil Brown, Eliezer Alfonzo, Mitch Canham, Luis Durango, Cedric Hunter, Brad Chalk, Drew Cumberland, and Sawyer Carroll.

In looking over the rosters you'll probably notice that Matt Antonelli, Kellen Kulbacki, Matt Latos, and Jaff Decker are all missing. Though all of the above have had to start the year on the DL, we expect them to be back active again relatively soon.

Nice to see Cedric Hunter start well. He's really re-emerged as a strong prospect after his 07 struggles. Hopefully he can flash a tad more power this year

Ooh, see you guys just claimed Perdomo off waivers. I was hoping he'd make the Giants instead of Medders, but this is exactly the type of risk the Pads should take. I like it

I didn't know that Antonelli was on the DL, what happened?
