I love this draft so far. I didn't think Williams would make it to our 2nd round pick and he did.
I want Gavin Brooks, LHP, from UCLA with the Padres next pick. He got screwed by his manager, who made him pitch with injuries. A high-risk, high-reward lefty, that was a sure first rounder out of high school if he didn't tear his rotator cuff. Also, he's a hometown boy, from Vista, California.
Congratulations. I wasn't crazy about Dykstra last year, but was very impressed with rounds 2 through 4. Thought you were going to go after a conservative college pick, but getting Everett here is tremendous value.
I like the pick and was hoping he would drop to the Padres in the 2nd round, but thought it would have been a better pick had the Padres taken a pitcher (Crow or Matzek) in the 1st round. Is there a reason why the Padres are "stock piling" outfield talent?
I think that the Padres are "stockpiling" outfield talent, because they have very little speed in the organization. Tate and Williams immediately infuse speed in the organization and are not just speed guys.
Is it just me, or did the Pads take exactly the same player with their second round pick? 5 tool high school center fielder.
Seems like they would both be on the same rookie league team, how are they both going to play CF? You wouldn't shift one to a corner already. I get the strength up the middle aspect of baseball, but with a thousand kids available, is it really necessary to go CF, CF with your first two picks?
We can never have too many good players! The fact is that we would love to have three big bats with CF ability patrolling our outfield in Petco. Everett's bat is too good to pass.

He is ranked as the 19th best draft prospect by BA

Very nice. You are surprising many of us, and in a good way. I like the Everett pick a lot.
What is the point in getting him when we have Tekotte and spent a first rounder on Tate?

Really exciting so far! Great start!
I love this pick and I am absolutely amazed that he fell to the 2nd round.
In my mock draft back on June 5th I had him going at 21 to Houston. Almost every mock I saw had him as a first round talent.
He is fast, hits well, has power, and a great arm.
The only downside I can think of is that he built alot like Jaff Decker.
So Paul, what would you say is the reason he fell all the way to the 2nd round?
