Any update on negotiations for draft picks: Auburn commitment Andrew Madrigal, Matthew Lollis, Steve Boras client Jorge Reyes, Joshua Cephas, Gaspar Santiago, Derek Landis, Mykal Stokes?
Have any of the following draft picks already advise the Padres they are planning to go back to school (i.e. Rey Delphey stating he is planning to go to University of South Florida instead of signing with Padres)?
A couple of questions. 1. Are all these guys reporting to Eugene? 2. Where is Cory Adamson? I've seen that Portillo is in Peoria and Aristy and Domoromo are in the Dominican, but what's the story with the Padres' Aussie signing?
Congrats on the recent signings. Can't wait to see those beasts in action.
Does the fact that the team might not be able to unload either Giles' or Peavy's salary (not saying that's a bad thing) affect whether we can sign any or all of the high school picks? Or are the budgets for the roster and the draft separate?
I believe all three of these guys will report to Eugene, but don't hold me to that.
As for Adamson, he is in high school in Australia, but he did spend some time in extended spring training and we're hopeful to get him in Arizona for part of the season this summer. He has also played in some tournaments back home.
Paul, off topic, but I am sure you have seen what was the revised script for Moneyball. The old one is online. What are your thoughts about the movie's potential and do you hope they can restart production? Thanks! Andrew Stebbins
LOL on Luke Hagerty. Saw him once before the surgery a million years ago in Boise and he was nasty; saw him once in Boise after the surgery and I think he walked seven guys in 1/3 IP.
Swasted ... yes, you are right, the Padres 5th round draft pick is Jason Hagerty ... he got a litte face time with the Padres on his way to the Emeralds ...
I'm showing my age! Luke Hagerty was a 1st round pick of the Cubs in 2002. Our 5th rounder is, in fact, Jason Hagerty. I'll change it now, but I wanted to leave this comment to admit the mistake!

I'm very excited to have them. Acutally Paul, one is an odd number so it's ok to stick with odd numbered rounds. :)
sign players from rounds: 1, 2, 4, 6, & 11 and we can pretty much call it a day
Wait Paul, 1 is not a even number. Your work this week is not complete.
Honestly I am very happy with the signings so far and even more so with the entire draft this year. Well done!

Without getting into specific dollars, could you comment on whether you were within the MLB recommended slots for those three guys? THANKS!
